Quality public education is essential to a productive and vibrant society. In Virginia it is the responsibility of state government to provide, in partnership with local government, funding adequate to pay competitive salaries for teachers, principals and other school personnel and build facilities that meet the needs of today’s complex global economy.
It is the view of HRACRE that public education will never reach its potential in the Old Dominion if the Commonwealth does not fully fund the Standards of Quality as it is morally obligated to do. Further the General Assembly must not permit Virginia’s vaunted system of higher education to falter for it represents the best and brightest hope for citizens to advance beyond their life situations by acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to gain economic and financial security for themselves and their families. |
